Canadian StudmuffinMy name is Larry Graves, although on the Internet I am better known as the "Canadian Studmuffin."  My main following is on YouTube, with over 27,600 subscribers and over 15 million total video views.

I was born in North Bay, Ontario Canada on February 28th, 1958. One of my first memories (besides being beaten up by my two older brothers on a daily basis...) was seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964. Since that time, music (more than comedy) has been the main influence in my life for being creative.

Around this time I imagined hosting my very own variety show, in which I was the host, which I had named "The Mark Singingsong Show." While other children were outside playing with toys and running around, I was usually in front of my Mom's mirror pretending to entertain people. (I never said I was normal...)

I was told by my Mom that I was named after a local popular radio disc jockey with the first name  Larry. I guess even my mother knew I would love music and the field of entertainment.

The first time I realized that I might have a gift for humor was when everyone in my Grade 4 class had to write a short story and read it to the class. My story involved a kid getting bubble gum as his Christmas present. The whole class erupted in laughter as I told the story. I quickly became the "class clown", although I really did not like the attention, as I was and still am a fairly shy, quiet person, but I sure loved to hear my classmates laughing.

The years went by and I lost my way in school and became a bit of a recluse, with only a couple of close friends. My love of music helped me through the teenage years (and the music that influenced me can be read on my Favorite Rock Albums page. I started to be creative in my teenage years by writing poetry, which surpisingly mostly serious. In my early twenties I finally found my way in life, got married and had two sons who are now in their mid-twenties.Larry Graves

Around 1993 I slowly started to write a bit and before I knew it I had a small collection of true humorous stories, which I printed up as newsletters called "Grave Times". I handed these newsletters to family and friends and luckily never got sued.  I remember once my boss at the factory I was working at came out of his office after reading one of the newsletters and said to me "What are you doing working here?", and that sure got me thinking. Maybe I  actually had some talent after all, but I rarely had the confidence to go with the talent.

When the Internet came into our lives (around 1997), I made up this website, which has now been online for over twelve years. It started out as gravetimes.com but became canadianstudmuffin.com in 2006.

I did a redneck comedy cd with Eric Myers called "Redneck Canadian" in 2007 and the songs are free to download here.

One of my proudest moments was working with Brian Ray on a video for a song from his solo album. Brian just happens to be the guitarist for someone named Paul McCartney. Thanks to Brian, my wife and I got to see Paul McCartney in concert and also go backstage this past August to meet Brian and the the rest of Paul's great band. We had superb seats (9 rows back, center stage.)  Photos are in my "Larry Graves Photos" section. You can also see the video I did for Brian Ray on his YouTube channel here.

Going back a few years again, our family was shocked when we learned that my first wife Nancy had cancer. She received the news in June of 2003 and passed away (at the age of 40) January 21, 2004. There is a tribute page to her here.

I remarried in 2005 to Deb Graves. I did a joke video with her called "Wife Caught In Bikini" which now has over 1.5 million views. I'm planning to do "Husband Caught In Bikini" this summer. You have been warned...Deb Graves

I graduated from a two year Advertising course at Loyalist College in June of 2009.

In 2010 I worked for a few weeks at a local call center. On the last day of training I had brought in a ten minute comedy video regarding the experience of working at this call center (all in good fun).  My teacher (who had previously seen the video and loved it) showed it to our class and the whole class was laughing throughout the clip. It was great to hear the uproarious laughter. Later that day she brought in a couple of the managers and played the video again. They laughed along with my classmates. At the end of the video one of the managers turned to me and said "What are you doing working here?" Needless to say, I am not at the call center now, and I'm very content working from home making comedy videos for a living.

If you get a chance, please check out my comedy videos on YouTube here.
